The Hud (Instructions) Version 1

The Hud (appears as blue diaper cover)

The Hud (Version 1)

TxDove Note: This version is not a soaker but a diaper cover. The knit is not close enough to make an effective soaker. The yarn used is not wool but acrylic. To make this style of diaper to function as a soaker: use wool and knit with KP1 throughout.

The Hud is knit in one continuous piece (excluding leg ribbing) then seamed together at the sides using a mattress or Bickford seam.

CO 50 sts

Double e-wrap

KP1: Knit 16 rows (optional: add elastic thread to knit rows 2-15). Convert to 1X1 ribbing. Knit 1 more row and change to KP2

KP2: Knit 30 rows

Add LIFELINE and change to KP1

KP1: Knit 50 rows and convert to 1X1 ribbing. Change to KP2

KP2: Knit 30 rows

Add LIFELINE and change to KP1

KP1: Knit 17 rows and convert 16 rows to 1X1 ribbing (optional: add elastic thread to knit rows 2-15)

Bind off using a stretchy bind off.

At this point the main body of the cover can be hung (sideways from crotch ribbing edge) using KP1. Knit 3-5 rows and convert to 1X1 ribbing.

I prefer to seam the sides and then using size 2 DPNS add leg ribbing (k1, p1)
